Success at the Spring Nationals

North Shore Bridge Club

There was a sea of familiar faces, including numerous NSBC members, who travelled west to the Canterbury Racecourse to participate in the annual Spring Nationals event. Lots of interstate visitors too, as they strived for a last chance to earn PQPs (Player Qualifying Points) for 2022. PQPs are used to determine who can compete in the playoffs for the 2023 Australian national team. The main event was the TBIB Spring National Open Teams, which was won after a gruelling 5 days of Qualifying, Semi-final and Final competition, by the MILNE team, consisting of NSBC members Liam Milne (our former manager) and Shane Harrison, together with James Coutts and Andy Hung. Andy ran a highly successful  series of lessons at NSBC earlier in the year. In the Bridgegear Intermediate Teams, the HOLGATE Team - Kevin Murray - Rob Holgate - Neil Williams - Peter Fitzmaurice - came a creditable 4th. In the Dick Cummings Open Pairs, Andrew Peake came third with partner Sue Ingham. In the Ted Chadwick Restricted Pairs, our best placed pair were Maeve Doyle and Robyn Rogers, who came 6th. Full Results  The event continues this week with further Pairs and Teams competition.
